Okay, Okay
So I haven't really posted in a while. Well, here it is.
A few weeks ago, my great grandma passed away. We drove up there for the funeral. It was good to see all the relatives again, but I wish it could have been under different circumstances. MissJo, Jay, and I played Amazing Grace for the funeral. I miss her. No more fighting over her deviled eggs. (that's a story in itself...maybe I'll post it someday) No more snatching those delicious cookies she'd bring with her. No more getting to cook breakfast with her if I was up by time the sun started rising. Being the only one she'd let drive the golf cart if she was going out. No more annual trip with her and my grandma to Kmart. No more hearing her soft snoring below me when she'd come to visit. She showed her love for us all in so many little ways. There are so many precious memories she gave to me.
The week after, I had my first ever recital. I didn't do all that great, but I had wonderful accompanists on the piano and violin. :)
And this past week has been very busy. MissJo had two beautiful concerts and many practices. We went to see two different Christmas productions that our friends were in, and went to an elegant Christmas tea.
School is still keeping me very busy. I am more than half way done with my math book, which makes me very excited!
Not much else is going on besides the fact that I have a really sore throat that has been keeping me up at night. Prayers would be greatly appreciated. Sore throats aren't much fun.

~
It was just over a year ago. I miss him like crazy. It hurts in a way only God knows.
I can still hear the twelve most important words he ever said to me. Twelve words an older man said to a little girl trying to poke her hand into the cookie jar without tripping the sensor. Twelve words that would change the way that little girl saw the world. "You know enough to be dangerous, Kiddo. Use that knowledge for good."
Below I'm putting a post I wrote on Xanga a while ago. Thought you might like to read it.
I have decided I must be Irish. Maybe I got it from Uncle Fred. :) I can smile if I need to, but it's a fake smile. I just recently realized what exactly makes a real smile for me. When I really smile from the bottom of my heart, I smile with my eyes. Cameras cannot capture the difference unless it's a closeup. If it's not a closeup you can't see my eyes to tell if I'm really smiling or not (evidenced by our Christmas '08 picture. It looks like I'm smiling, but I really wasn't). My true smile is in my eyes, not my mouth. Therefore I must be Irish somehow. :) Uncle Fred was everything Irish. He adopted them into his heritage. He's the person that first played that song for me. I remember it. He had just gotten a leprechaun that sang that song.
When I was younger, I had a fascination with Irish dancing. I still really like it, but I'm not so crazy about it. :) I called Uncle Fred and asked him if he would teach me to Irish dance (in my little kid's mind, if you loved a country, you knew how to dance their way). He said he'd teach me how to talk like an Irishman, but he'd have to think about teaching me to dance. Maybe next time I came up he would.
The next time I went up to their house, Uncle Fred wasn't there. And he wasn't ever coming back. But I have requested something extra special of God. And I don't see any Biblical reason why He wouldn't grant my wish. We'll just have to see. But I have requested that my first dance in heaven be an Irish dance with Uncle Fred. And until then, I'll try to keep my Irish eyes smiling.

There's a tear in your eye, And I'm wondering why,
For it never should be there at all.
With such pow'r in your smile, Sure a stone you'd beguile,
So there's never a teardrop should fall.
When your sweet lilting laughter's Like some fairy song,
And your eyes twinkle bright as can be;
You should laugh all the while And all other times smile,
And now, smile a smile for me.
Chorus:
When Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing.
When Irish hearts are happy,
All the world seems bright and gay.
And when Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, they steal your heart away.
For your smile is a part Of the love in your heart,
And it makes even sunshine more bright.
Like the linnet's sweet song, Crooning all the day long,
Comes your laughter and light.
For the springtime of life Is the sweetest of all
There is ne'er a real care or regret;
And while springtime is ours Throughout all of youth's hours,
Let us smile each chance we get.
For it never should be there at all.
With such pow'r in your smile, Sure a stone you'd beguile,
So there's never a teardrop should fall.
When your sweet lilting laughter's Like some fairy song,
And your eyes twinkle bright as can be;

What Would You Like To See?
I'm trying to decide if it would be worth my time to do a video of the week. I would probably do some music videos, commercials, and other videos. Would that be something you'd like to see? Please vote on my poll on the sidebar.

PeachMac
Okay, so my sister has told me that my blog is not complete without a certain story. So, here it goes.
Last Saturday I got up at 6:30am. By 7:15am, my mom, sister, and I were sitting in our car in the parking lot of PeachMac. There were a few other empty cars in the parking lot, but only two others that had people in them. No one got out of their cars for a minute, but then a guy got out of his car, walked up to PeachMac, and stood in their 'corral'. After standing for a little while, he sat down on the cold, hard concrete. He wasn't there very long; he got cold and walked down to Starbucks to get some coffee. When he started walking away, Mom got all excited and told me to go get in the front of the line. I told her I didn't want to go sit out there by myself, so she came with me. She wanted to get a picture of me in front of the 'line starts here' sign, and while she was doing that, the other guy came back, ducked under the rope, and resumed his position at the front of the line. And thus began our almost three hour wait. MissJo was still sitting in the warm car, enjoying the spectacle. Mom decided she wanted something out of the car, so she left the line. The girl from the other car jumped out and came and stood in line behind me. Mom didn't want to cut in front of her, and she wanted to be with me, so I moved back to third in the line, which I didn't mind since the other girl had gotten there first, she just hadn't gotten out of her car. The four of us sat there until about 8, when a couple came and got in line behind Mom. She started talking to them, and pretty soon the lady had pulled out her iPad and was giving us a demonstration. She was showing us all these really cool free apps she had downloaded. She let me play with her 'cat', and showed us how to 'make' pottery. Then the time started flying by. Before I knew it, the sun was rising fast and all the PeachMac workers were arriving. Pretty soon, some of the workers went down to Starbucks and bought a big thing of coffee and brought it to everyone in the line. Now, I am not a coffee drinker, but my nose was so cold, I took a cup. I only drank about 1/4 of it before I gave it to Mom. I am really not a coffee drinker. By that time, I had started chatting with the guy and girl in front of me. MissJo got out of the warm car and came to join us shortly after that. We heard someone behind us say something about the length of the line so we tried to look for ourselves. The line went around the side of the building, across the street, around the roundabout, down that street, and to the restaurant. The last thirty minutes seemed longer than the other 2 hours and 15 minutes. The security guard came and was talking to us and some of the workers came out and were asking us questions and taking pictures of us. A newspaper reporter came and interviewed the guy and girl and took their picture. A TV crew came and was taping us. Finally 10am came. The owner of the store came out and was talking to us, and then let us in. The TV crew was filming us as we walked through the doors. All the PeachMac employees were standing in two lines for us to walk through. All except one, that is. He was taping us as we walked down the aisle. Everyone was hooting and hollering. Boy, was it fun. Then the line of employees slowly broke apart as they took up their posts for the day. We were directed to a table where we got our prize: a t-shirt. They were giving away electronics and other stuff, but we didn't win any of those. All I got was a t-shirt. And now I can say I was the third person, other than employees and media, to walk through those doors. And I was probably on some TV station. But to me it didn't matter what I got. I just went for the fun of it. :) Well, and I did really want a shirt. ;)

Pictures, Anyone?
If anyone has any really good pictures of Frisbee Man, please email them to me. :) I'm starting to work on his slideshow, and it would be nice to have a variety of pictures. They can be goofy or normal, just ones that you think would go well in a slideshow. I might not use all of them, but it would be nice to have options. :)
Also, it has been brought to my attention that you can't really see my profile picture, so here it is.

Miscellaneous
Well, I never thought I'd be saying this, but in the past week and a half, I've read seven science fiction books. They were amazing. The Shadow Children series by Haddix. And no, sci-fi isn't what I used to think it was. It includes all books that portray life with a different political scheme. They were neat books. Scary, I could see all of it happening, though. Haddix is a superb storyteller.
For those of you who like pictures, I took lots of them at MissJo's concert last Sunday, but it might take me a while to get them down here. We're back to the long journey to get them from the camera to this computer because our card reader hasn't been being very nice lately. I'll try to get them down here soon.
For those of you who like videos and those of you who like music, here's one that I found the other night. It's really sweet.
Well, that's all for now. If I can get the pictures onto this computer, I'll try to post them soon.

Tag!
I've been tagged by Mrs. S! So, here it goes. :)
Do you have any special Christmas goodies that you like to make every year?
Last year I made sugar cookies for our neighbors, and I'm looking forward to doing that again this year.
Do you send Christmas cards? Photo? Letter?
We give cards to the neighbors with their cookies. In the past, my wonderful sister MissJo has put together a letter and rounded us all up for a photo, but we haven't done that in a couple of years.
Do you have a favorite Christmas or birthday gift that you received as a child?
I loved my American Girl doll that my grandparents got for me on my birthday. I also loved my stuffed little black puppy my other grandparents gave me.
What was your favorite subject in school? Is it your favorite to teach?
I'm really enjoying my speech class, I love violin, and I'm actually enjoying Spanish. And I've never taught anything, so I wouldn't know.
Are you a morning person or a night person?
Definitely a night owl.
What is one thing you wish you had more time to do?
I don't wish I had more time to do anything. Twenty four hours in a day is plenty for me.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Chocolate chip cookie dough.
Do you make your bed every day?
Nope.
Well, I'm off to write my speech that I have to give on Friday. G'night!

New Car!
We got a new car! Well, a four year old new car. ;) Our old car isn't in safe driving condition any more, so after three and a half weeks of car shopping, we finally found our match! I think it's the prettiest car we looked at. I can't wait until I can drive it! :) I just got done giving it a car wash, so it's all pretty. The yearly pest inspection guy is here right now, but once he's gone, I'll go out and snap some pictures for y'all. When I'll actually post them might be another thing, though...

Whew
Well, I've had a pretty busy day so far. I got up this morning and went and gave a speech to five judges. We'll see if I can get the video up here, maybe... It didn't turn out as good as my practice speech did. Anyways, I came home and decorated a cake for frisbee tonight (see above picture). It took me a little over an hour. Now we're getting ready to have frisbee. Busy, but fun. :)

Batman!
I love it how if you look at the picture closely, you can see the reflection of the Batmobile. Recently, in preparing for a speech about a hero, I ordered Batman books from the library. I ended up picking a real life hero for my speech, but still got the books from the library. All together, I have over 1000 pages of the early comics waiting to be read. I have been learning all about the superhero that I thought I knew about. I was kinda surprised to find out that he doesn't fly. I used to think all superheroes flew. I'd have to say he's my favorite though, because of how realistic they tried to make him. I'm really enjoying it. So much so that I knew that if I let myself read all day, I would read all day and never get anything else done. So I've made a rule that's challenging to keep, but a good rule, that I have to complete all of my day's schoolwork before I can even open up the book of Batman. In three days, I've been plowing along in my schoolwork, and I've read the first 100 pages! :)
Well, I hope you've enjoyed the ramblings of what I've been up to. I might try to get some more pictures up here soon. We'll see...

Thought Y'all Might Enjoy
Normally when I listen to my music on the computer, I keep the volume between 1/4 to 1/3 of max volume. Fast forward...imagine the end of the bridge of Healing Begins...just after the singing...as it's ramping up before quieting down...yeah, that part...imagine that playing 3-4x louder than loud. That's what happened to me for about 2 seconds until I could figure out what the noise was and how to stop it. Boy, did it scare me silly. I have never experienced an emotion like that before. It scared me so bad I started shaking from head to toe and crying. It really was that loud and unexpected. So, how did it happen? I was watching a video my mom had sent me and I couldn't hear it, so I turned it up all the way. Then I went and forgot that I had turned the volume up and played the song I had paused to see the movie. I'm just brilliant.
Lesson of the day: if you turn the volume up, remember to turn it down before resuming normal activities.

Raccoon
Okay, so I took these forever ago and just hadn't gotten around to posting them. So here they finally are.
These are of a raccoon that would come up onto our back porch during the day to eat. One day I got out the camera and tripod and started shooting. You're getting the condensed version; I took about 75 pictures. Enjoy!

Finally
I finally got the pictures from our trip last Tuesday (or was it Wednesday???) on here. Enjoy!
A couple from our church invited us up to have lunch with them at Corporate. The amount of food they have up there for lunch is amazing. They sure feed their people well.
This is a picture of the bottled beverages refrigerator after lunch was almost over:

This one was my favorite normal car:
But this one was my very favorite:
Hope you've enjoyed!

Nikki's Challenge-Week Sixteen
This past week I read In His Steps. Not much is going on around here. Violin is coming along. I'm working on my ninth song! :)
Sorry, but I don't have any pictures for this post. I experimented with some different settings on the camera last week and ended up with quite a few pictures, so I'll try to get those up here soon. Well, Goodbye for now!

Nikki's Challenge-Week Fifteen
I know this is more than half a week late, but here it is anyways.
This past week I read a really good book, Me, Myself, & Bob, by Phil Vischer. It's about God calling you to do something and then taking that thing away from you. And the reason He takes those things from you is because sometimes they get in the way of your relationship with Him. That's why Phil Vischer believes he lost Big Ideas is because it became more about the Veggies than God. It's a really good book and I highly recommend it. The only thing with it is that he does use a handful of swear words. But other than that, it's a very good book. Blogger needs to fix the favorites section of the profiles, though, because when I put Me, Myself, & Bob as one of my favorite books, it put it as (Me) (Myself) (& Bob), like it's three different books. Blogger, maybe instead of using commas you should try using semicolons to separate the items.
Oh, and I also sat down and over two days (only about three hours though) did my whole school schedule. I'm glad it's done.
For those of you who like pictures, here's one. I love looking for the faces on cars and tractors and such. They just give the vehicle so much more uniqueness. Does anyone else look for the faces on vehicles? Anyway, enjoy!

Nikki's Challenge-Week Thirteen and Week Fourteen
Well, I had managed to post every week...
Two weekends ago some friends of ours took us to a GBraves game. It was a lot of fun. Here's a picture of all the kids (minus the three older boys) with the mascot:
This past week I've been starting to get all my schoolwork for next year sorted out. Saturday morning I went running. In the afternoon we drove to some friends' house and went geocaching with six of their children. We didn't find the one we set out to find, but we found a different one. That evening we went to a surprise 25th anniversary party for a couple at our church. The aforementioned family was also there, so for most of the party I got to watch their four littlest. :)
As for a picture of my haircut, the picture from the ballgame is the only one I have, so it'll have to suffice. Here's another picture for y'all. Enjoy!

Nikki's Challenge-Week Twelve
Well, Nikki's Challenge has become, for me, more of just a reason to blog. :)
This past Friday we went to Dialog in the Dark. It was amazing. It was so neat to try to get around rooms without being able to see anything and to figure out what you were holding. You learn to live by touch and sound. The only thing I identified in Kroger was the Italian salad dressing. :)
I'm working a project, but I need help. I need fun games for anywhere from 1 player to group games. They need to be games that require few or no accessories other than chairs. And no really rough games. If you can think of any that fit this description, please let me know. I'm trying to find as many as possible.
I still don't have pictures of my haircut. It's pretty much just like the other one only shorter. :) I'll try to get pictures sometime soon. Maybe. But here are some other pictures for now. Enjoy!

Nikki's Challenge-Week Eleven
This past week I've been running. Three times. I've gone a mile and a half each time. Next Saturday we're going two miles. :) Not much else going on over this way. I've been reading a lot. Oh, and I just found out about (and now own) the greatest sewn invention: The Quillow. They're awesome! They can be used like a blanket or folded up and used as a pillow! They just fascinate me. They're just so cool! :) Anyway, I have the one I got and I'll be using it to make a pattern so that I can make more.
I haven't gotten a chance to work on a new look yet, but hopefully it won't be too much longer.
I don't have any good pictures of my haircut on the computer yet, so here's some pictures from my week. Enjoy!

Nikki's Challenge-Week Ten
I got pictures of my new haircut, but they're not on the computer yet. As for my accomplishment this week, I organized our spice cabinet. 8) Frisbee got rained out most of the way through and I drove the golf cart home...with the windshield down. :) This week I also joined a running club here in town that one of my friends started. We had our first run this morning - 1 1/2 miles. Needless to say, I walked part and ran part.
For those of you who voted on my poll that you don't like the new look, please vote on my new polls. I'm trying to decide how to do my new background, and I know some of you don't like it because it's hard to read, so I'm trying to figure out what colors need to be fixed.
I haven't been taking many pictures lately, so I'm running out of ones to post. I don't feel like digging around right now trying to find more, so here's one that was easy to find. Enjoy!
